The main types of grinders are disc grinders, rotary shaft grinders and various special grinders.

Disc grinder

It is divided into single disc and double disc, and the double disc grinder is the most common one. On a double disc grinder (see Figure [Double Disc Grinder]), multiple workpieces are put into the cage between the upper and lower grinding discs at the same time, and the cage and workpieces move in parallel with the action plane by eccentric or planetary mechanism. The lower lapping plate rotates, and the upper lapping plate parallel to it can not rotate, or it can rotate in reverse with the lower lapping plate, and it can move up and down to compress the workpiece (the pressure is adjustable). In addition, the upper grinding plate can also rotate an angle around the column with the rocker arm to facilitate loading and unloading of workpieces. The double disc grinder is mainly used to process two parallel surfaces, one plane (the attachment for pressing the workpiece needs to be added), cylindrical surface and spherical surface (the lapping disc with V-shaped groove is used), etc. When machining the outer cylindrical surface, because the workpiece must slide and roll, the cage hole groove type and arrangement angle must be reasonably selected. The single disc grinder has only one lower disc, which is used to grind the lower plane of the workpiece. It can process workpieces with different shapes and sizes on the same disc, with high grinding accuracy. Some grinders also have a mechanism that automatically corrects the grinding plate during the grinding process.

Rotary shaft grinder

The workpiece or lapping tool (adjustable lapping ring or lapping rod) is driven by the positive and reverse rotating spindle to rotate. The structure is simple, and it is used to grind the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces.

Depending on the workpiece to be ground, there are center hole grinding machine, steel ball grinding machine and gear grinding machine. In addition, there is also a kind of centerless grinding machine with similar centerless grinding principle, which is used to grind cylindrical workpieces.
